About

  • Under various pieces of legislation, SEPA have to maintain certain information about activities we regulate in registers and make that information available to the public. These different registers of information are commonly referred to together as "the Public Register".
  • We are also creating a new on-line digital Public Register service which will make most of our regulatory documents and data publicly available. This ambitious project is part of our digital transformation.

As part of the start of this process we are publishing key Public Register data about:

  • active authorisations under:
    • Controlled reservoirs (RES)
    • Industrial activities - Pollution Prevention and Control (PPC)
    • Radioactive substances (EAS)
    • Waste activities – Waste Management Licences and Exemptions (WML)
    • Waste carrier/broker activities (WCR)
    • Water activities - Controlled Activities Regulations (CAR)
  • surrendered authorisations under each of the above, where the surrender has happened within the last 12 months.

Where applicable, this includes data on authorised sites, authorisation holder and authorisation number, but does not include authorisation documents themselves.

How do I find information?

The main page has a Search function at the top where you can filter on one or more of the headings. When you click into any of the white boxes under a heading you can type in the information you are looking for. You can filter on more than one heading. There are two headings which use a “drop-down” list to select from:

Authorisation Status

  • Granted – the authorisation is currently active
  • Surrendered – the authorisation was surrendered within the last 12 months

Authorisation Level

  • CAR Complex Licence – a licence level authorisation under the CAR regulations
  • CAR Registration – a registration level authorisation under the CAR regulations
  • CAR Simple Licence – a licence level authorisation under the CAR regulations
  • EASR Permit Non-Nuclear – a licence level authorisation under the EASR regulations
  • EASR Permit NORM – a licence level authorisation under the EASR regulations
  • EASR Permit Nuclear – a licence level authorisation under the EASR regulations
  • EASR Registration Non-Nuclear – a registration level authorisation under the EASR regulations
  • EASR Registration Offshore – a registration level authorisation under the EASR regulations
  • EASR Registration Outwith Scotland – a registration level authorisation under the EASR regulations
  • PPC Part A – a licence level authorisation under the PPC regulations
  • PPC Part B – a licence level authorisation under the PPC regulations
  • Reservoir Registration – a registration level authorisation under the Reservoirs legislation
  • Waste Carrier Registration – a registration level authorisation under the Controlled Waste regulations
  • Waste Complex Exemption – an exemption under the WML regulations
  • Waste Management Licence – a licence level authorisation under the WML regulations
  • Waste PCTW Notification – a notification under the Controlled Waste regulations
  • Waste Simple Exemption – an exemption under the WML regulations
